Tijen  Ercen

I left Türkiye in 1977 to pursue my studies in Germany. After completing my education, I spent 40 years working in the pharmaceutical industry, contributing to two of the largest U.S.-based pharmaceutical companies. Throughout those decades, while I was fully dedicated to my profession, I never lost touch with my lifelong passions— modeling, fashion, art, design, colors, and the joy of creating new ideas. Although my career kept me busy, I always carried a deep desire to explore and develop my artistic vision.

Now, in retirement, I finally have the freedom and time to focus intensely on bringing these ideas to life. Art has the power to inspire, provocate thought, and even promote sustainability. I replaced my high-stress corporate role with a passion for art.

My journey into art began with a simple idea, fueled by a deep and enduring passion. At the heart of my work is a strong commitment to sustainability. I believe in protecting our planet and using our resources responsibly. That's why I create art using recycled materials, primarily used coffee capsules, broken ceramic glasses, tiles, etc., and unique antique frames filled with epoxy resin or plaster. I do not repair, polish, or repaint the frames. I embarrass their imperfections. Many are damaged, aged, or worn, and each telling its own story. I preserve their original character, allowing them to merge naturally with my vision. The result is authentic, one-of-a-kind pieces that speaks to beauty, imperfection, and renewable. Every artwork is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and is proudly stamped under my name.

Now live part-time in Marbella, where I give personal attention to every detail. My approach is grounded in quality, integrity, and a deep commitment to excellence. Each piece I create reflects my belief that art should be meaningful, sustainable, and uniquely personal.
